might be a totally stupid question, but woul my 98 R1 engined indy pass emission test with the original R1 can on?

I used an R1 can for SVA with a really big cat. It worked. 100 dBA @7600 RPM 161 ppm HC 0.03% CO.
The first cat wasn't good enough and I had to borrow another one to get through.

any cheaper way of getting through other than messing around going to mk twice paying a deposit and 50 quid for the hire>?

50 quid for the hire!? MNR lent me one for free!
For £50 you could go to a scrappy and buy one to keep and probably have it gold plated.
