So if you want a non-Q plate, then we all know you need to prove so much of the car comes from one identifiable donor.

But what happens to logbook of the donor car after SVA, is it still yours to do with as you please?

The reason I ask is that I'll only be using hubs etc, steering column and diff n shafts from the donor, the engine and box are coming from a different car, so I'll have to pull the trick of registering donor car with the new engine number to satisfy the one donor checklist.

If I still have the logbook I could then re-register the donor with the original engine number, replace the bits I took off and sell the car complete.

I could also source donor parts separately, before I find a donor car, and be a bit crafty with the pictures I take during the process to prove where the parts came from - massive lack of space problem!

Any thoughts on this?

Cheers.

My donor's V5 was kept by the VRO when I applied for the VIN. The letter that I was given with the VIN stated that I would get an age related plate. It didn't stop me from getting a license reminder one year later though.
