Fireblade Engine SVA - What year for Cat?
Evening All,
SVA test looming and I have fitted a Cat to my 1997 RRV Fireblade engine as I presumed it was required. I have now received a form from VOSA saying
that if I can't prove the age of the engine then it will be assumed that it is after August 1997 and hence will require a Catalytic
Convertor.
As I thought it was 1994 for a CAT I have not bothered to get the exact date of the engine build. Any ideas how I can find the exact month of
manufacture quickly?!
Although I have the Cat fitted if it is not a requirement then I will be more confident that at least with it fitted I should pass with no
problems.
Many thanks,
Steve

Front of the Blade Haynes manual should state the engine numbers and releant ages.
If you want to prove it then you will need a letter on headed Honda paper stating it.
Pop into your local Honda dealer and sweet talk him into sorting a letter out for you.

Yep the Haynes states its a 1997 but if there is a chance that pre August is better then I will have to try the Honda dealers for a letter.
Many thanks,

SVA manual states that from August 1995 engine will be tested to the default catalyst requirements.
