SVA almost
Well set of early in the morning only to get 20 miles down the road to find fog on the horison. Trouble was the
fog was my expansion tank main feed letting go. the only water source was a puddle in the middle of no where. So we used the puddle to fill the engine
and drove on.
5 mins later the hose let go again, this time a friendly neigbour supplied some clean water.
We eventualy arived 40 mins late.
So no test.
And to top it all my battery died so after the second water stop my faithfull pusher collapsed on the main roundabout and was missed by all the
traffic
the inspector had a good look around and could only pick up a few minor points which we could have sorted on the day.
And its my birthday.
So onwards and upwards

What a bummer!
I hope you have better luck next time.
I must say I think it's probably a good idea to have a chase car with basic tools etc. when you go for SVA.
Or maybe take the easy way out and trailer it
Experience is what you get when you don't get what you want!!!

thats weird I was late to and weve both had the same exhaust within a week

Been there - failed to get to SVA - found out later that I could have fixed the problem in 10 minutes 
As for a chase car - I took a canvas tool bag jam-packed with every conceivable tool that could possibly be required, tape, tie-wraps, foam, edging
stuff, wire, spare bulbs, fuses - you name it, I took it, including my portable drill! I think the bag weighed 20kg...
Oh - I also trailered it the second time round...

It must be the curse of the Cat!!!
There are a few plus points though.
I need a new water feed connection, Nova drivers sticking the V 's up and I know they only want to go as fast as I can.

I went all the way there in second gear at 70ish comfortably right on the power curve down the A5
REPS kiss my BEC!!!!!
got a big four stroke quad up me rear on this one road
dont think he knew what he was letting himself in for

How did you get on with the cat?
I found above 6,500 rpm th power just stopped.
It was also lumpy below 2,5
Not surprising when the outlet is only 1 inch

exactly the same it is the biggest cat you can rent

Yup, welcome to the club of being late for SVA
I'd just rebuilt my crossflow, and a little oil was getting past the rings. Every 5 miles I had to stop to clean the plugs.
Was eventually 40 mins late - no test.
A few choice bits were pointed out by the tester which I rectified for the next test, and failed on lots of other minor bits (radii mainly).
On the plus side, come second SVA, engine ran better as rings had bedded in!

Does anyone ever have an uneventful test.
The car runs beautifully, you get there with enough time for breakfast, the SVA inspector offers you a cup of tea and the car passes without you
having to do a thing to it. 
Maybe that will happen next time.

You forgot to mention the gibbering idiot behind the wheel. screaming for valium, 16 cwt of tools, glues, cable ties, edge strip etc in your car
mind you, I had excellent back up, moral support, and overnight accomodation.
The thing that worried me the most was driving 220 miles in a car that was home built and had only been tested over a 100 yard bit of road!
If you can keep you head, whilst all others around you are losing theirs, you are not fully aware of the situation
