Damn SVA Mitcham!
Paid for SVA 4 weeks ago and got amateur declaration the next week. Filled that in and 3 weeks later............nothing. I rang VOSA who told me that
they released my paperwork to Mitcham on the 9th May.........14 days ago. VOSA advised me to ring Mitcham and speak to them.
Well if you ever want to ring them, don't bother..........they never answer.
So I drove down there instead.
I waited at the reception window while 4 people happy ignored me while they enjoyed their personal conversation Then they found my form.
" We can't book you in until mid June, but also we can't do that because the computer is down. We will ring you this afternoon to
confirm a date"..........still waiting
I explained that it will be 2 months buy the time my car is tested (from booking).
The bloke next to me said that it should only take two weeks!
Also I was told that they only do morning bookings as they take 4 hours. I had booked an afternoon appointment to give me that all important , brake
bedding in run!
I suggested to the lady that they really are not interested in kit cars and were trying to make tests more difficult.
She just gave me a knowing smile.
Looks like Summer will be gone by the time I drive the car legally!

I'm suprised as I had no problems with Mitcham at all!
Put in for SVA and chased up with DVLA who told me to ring Mitcham, spoke to a lady who asked if I wanted the SVA a week later!!!
I declined but booked in for a months time.
Went to SVA and they were really good and professional, it failed on just exhaust noise but I booked in for a retest the next morning and passed!
Must be a busy time for some reason.
Rich.

Bugger.... Looks like i'll be waiting too as Mitcham is my local test center. The problem i have is that my insurance only covers me until 17th
June as i have already driven it to MOT. If i don't give the insurace company a reg number then i loose the whole lot, all £217 of it unless
they can see sence and give me an extension.
Shortie: May have to take you up on your offer of the trailer after all!!

Wheres your next nearest testing station, I'd go there instead.
It'll give you a longer brake bedding in run for sure.

Just got a phone call, that I missed and went to answerphone. Tried ringing them again. Finally someone answered and said why did n't I use the
extension number? The operator menu did not give me that option, that is why!
Anyway, drove there again after trying to get through on the phone for another half an hour.
Can't do May, Can't do Early June. Our tester is away 19th-26th. Will have to be July.
July I am away!
Finally got a date for 27th June, but (and it is a big but!) I am working nights that week so no sleep!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If I don't pass, I am going to run the tester over!!!!!!!!!! (I had better add, not really. He might be a member here!)

Aright, don't f#ck them off too much, there's a few more of us wanting to book there soon!
I know what you mean about getting through to them there though.... took me a week of phohing till someone answered the phone. It either rang for ages
or was engaged.
Cheers,
Jim

I gave Gillingham a ring but they are about to have one of their testers retire, so they said July.

On the insurance issue I'm with Flux & they were adamant there is no way to extend it past about 45 days (I only say about cos I may be
misremembering slightly, it was a definite deadline), I had to cancel the insurance, which you can do within 2 weeks of taking it out & start all
over again at the second SVA which it passed. Even then due to the registration process taking forever I was still over the 30 days & had to ask
for the extension, overall it cost me about an extra £25, much better than losing £277!
Martin, really sorry to hear of the problems you're having, & i'd hate to say I told you so, but I think its more common than a
straightforward booking ever is, they are a bunch of pen pushing jobsworths

sorry but Im confused Ive read quite a lot of people saying about them only having a certain months cover note etc
but Im insured on a garage build with adrian flux valued at 9k it cost me £90
then everytime I want to drive my car to go to SVA and set it up etc etc I just phone them and they charge me £21 a day on the said days
theres no limit or anything
then when all passed I insure the car properly
ta chris
good luck with SVA mate

Im with SureTerm - they insured my chassis number - agreed value of £10k whilst I'm building and getting it to and from MOT/SVA etc.. no
pressures etc.
My advice would be listen to Deckman - find another alternate centre.

And I had exactly the same problem so I phoned Adrian Flux, asked nicely and they refused point blank to extend the cover. I even phoned again the
next day - same thing. Luckily I passed and got the reg with a day to spare.
