chassis number, stamp or dremmel
what do you lads think?
i have stamped the chassis number in two locations, but i had only used 10 digits. on some numbers the die bounced and it has made the digits unclear.
i have ammended one of the chassis numbers to 17 digits, but cannot swing the hammer in the engin bay for the other number
my question is do you think that i should use my trusty dremmel with an engraving bit and redo the number so that it is fully clear?
it would be free hand but is that a problem????
your view are awaited

The numbers must be at least 4mm high and legible, but quite what that means I don't know. Personnaly, I'll be getting some plates made up
and then welding them in place. Should save some hassle.

I took my car for the DVLA inspection today. I had a plate with my own 17 digit chassis no bonded and riveted in position. I was told that the
regulations had changed and that a chassis number must be stamped in an accessable position on the offside of the chassis.
They also said they may allocate their own number but will have to check with the office first (despite saying the number was ok a couple of months
ago).
