SVA & Engine numbers

ok this may get complicated.....

SVA was applied for with engine number (a) but is not number on V5 of doner as this was not suitable

due to mechanincal failure the original engine (a) has been removed and engine (B) was fitted capacity of engine has also changed now 1.8 instead of 1.6

So do I tell vosa engine number (a) has changed to (b) and size has chanaged.

do I get dvla to update v5 to show engine (b) ? Dvla say this would take upto 6 weeks (SVA in 2 wks)

Do I wite to the bloke I sent the form for the chassis number etc to and tell hime of the change of details.

I can prove where I got all engines

Scot's do it better in Kilts.

Your best option IMHO would be to get the v5 changed. It would make life a lot easier for you I think.

Oh and where is "Near Aberdeen"

Check with your SVA testing centre. Give them a ring and explain that you have had to change your engine at short notice and therefore the engine number on the application is wrong. It shouldn't be a problem for them to amend it.

I wouldn't even bother informing DVLA. You don't even need the V5 if you're going for a Q plate and even if you're after an age related plate, you can still qualify for one without using the donor engine.

No problem.

i Had a similar kind of problem. I applied for my sva giving the engine number that i had at the time. I also filled in my dvla registration with the same number - but didn't send it off as i needed other bits of info that i didn't have at the time.

I got the engine fitted, turned it over only to find it was blowing a slight trace of smoke. Low compression on one of the pistons so i sorted out a replacement from the guy i bought it from. Got hold of the new engine fitted and posted of rego forms with the new number> The guy came round and inspected the car no problems and the reg number came through 3 days later. I also put the car to SVA with the new engine in with no probs at all. All he was interested in was the age of the engine and capacity.

hope this helps
