sva on loan parts
nearing the end of my build and i've collected loads of parts i dont need but dont want to sell eg 5 steering wheels boss's sva rubber
covers nut covers trim etc
why dont we offer a sva loan section, so you can list spare parts for loan or the price of p&p
maybe we have this and no ones told me?

good idea Graeme - I think the WLM (West London Mafia?) have something similar in existence?
I'd be happy to donate my nut covers and other bits and pieces after SVA.

Likewise temporary build parts too - I got a set of wheels given by someone on this forum, and when it's time to discard them for new shiney
alloys, it would be only right that I pass them on for free too.

not just that i was thinking of a loan service, we could have a new section of things we are willing to loan out for the sva period.

I agree to the priciple, but I'm worried that it would be blatently open to abuse, i.e. parts diappearing and appering on fleabay, will have to
have a think how to stop that happening
any ideas?

You pay for the item and get your money back on returning it

Great idea. How about you pay for the parts plus postage and add on 10 percent. If all parts are retd intact the 10 percent is donated to the forum if
parts are lost /damaged then the parts owner gets the cost (already paid) plus the 10 percent for his restocking costs (postage out of pocket expenses
etc).
It is a great idea but I don't know how easily it would be to keep track of everything (unless we all keep track of our own parts).

I'm on a different list to do with self build houses, and we have a very good system that rents out a board lifter. Its worth around £650, and
so making sure it doesnt get lost is important...!
As it was, it was purchased in 6 shares. You purchase a share, for around £100, then you arrange to collect the lifter. It is your responsibility to
make sure it is maintained, and if you break it, you fix it...
When you have finished with it, you can sell your share, for the same price as you bought it. Bearing in mind, hiring these things is about £60/wk, it
soon pays for itself.
We could put together a box with a list in the lid of the contents, and then if you lose it, you replace it.

You could set up an online register of parts, who owns them, and who has currently got them.
This would need to be accessable to verified users and only editable by the owner of the part, but it would allow everyone to see where the part
currently is. It could also incorporate a time plan shwoing how long the part will be required for.
Could be more complicated than just asking on here in the wanted section though to see if anyone has something you need though...

Id say a on line register is the best thing so that its searchable, id evan be willing to code it and donate the code to ChrisW to be intergrated
with the site.

Thats easy - paint the parts a bright gaudy colour that no-one would want to keep on their cars (shocking pink, dayglo something etc) and then stencil
something along the lines of "LCB SVA Loan Parts - if found return to XXXXX" on them.

Might give the SVA man a clue that its not a 'permanent' part though.

I get the idea of borrowing a steering wheel cover but other than that what other parts is one likely to want to get rid of? After my last SVA I
don't recall removing anything other than the odd nut cover which fell off here and there and never got replaced? Don't get me wrong, if
there is a stack of bits to exchange then I'd be in, but I don't see them. Oh, but I would appreciate borrowing a Momo steering wheel
cover if you have one?
