Age related plate
My Viento has benn registered with an age related plate.
I did not get an MOT prior to SVA and have been running the car on the road for the last Month. As the weather is changing I am going to take it of
the road till spring.
If i apply for Road Tax in 6 months time how do i stand for requiring an MOT.
The V5 states
"date of first registration 17-03 1993".
Will the post office accept that it has only been registered for about 8 months and does not need an MOT.
Will I need an MOt next September?
I know this has been covered before but I expected the V5 to indicate
"Date of first registration - 3-09-2006"
even though it has an age related plate.
Do the others with age related plate have the same info on the V5?
Confused but keen!

No!
I have an age related plate, with the date of first registration as 25th June 2004 (when I passed my SVA) and registered the next day.

I would get the V5 corrected - your particular car was not first registered in 1993, even though you have an age-related plate. If you
don't get it changed then IMHO the Post Office will demand an MOT certificate.
The question of whether a MOT is needed for kit cars lss than 3 years from registration appears to be open to interpretation, but when my 1 year tax
disc renewal came up and it said "appropriate MOT cert" I took the V5 to the PO and showed them it was only a year since registration and
the guy crossed out that wording and gave me the new disc.
Good luck!

My V5C has two dates:
1) Date of registration, which shows the date of registration of the Locost.
2) Date of first registration, which shows the date of registration of the donor.
No idea how this affects me in relation to the first MOT, but it seems to be another area where local offices have their own interpretation.

Hi, yep I've got the same situation as you on the log book, my car was done by Glasgow end August this year, meant to query this with DVLA when
I got the Reg doc @ end of Sept when doc appeared! so thanks for reminder.
Just called DVLA Swansea & they advised to return doc to local office with covering letter who will prob revise. Given it took them 6 weeks to
process orig application who knows what could happen! maybe it's special to the Scottish contingent
