Dash lamp colours - SVA requirement?

Just a quick question...

Does the SVA state the colours for the various lights that you need on the dashboard? For example, convention is that...

- Indicators are green
- Main beam is blue
- Brake warning is red

Are these just conventions, or a proper SVA requirement?

lights

I have had a look in the SVA manual.
I can find no mention of a colour for the tell tale dash light for side lights , fog lights or indicators.
I think the only mandatory tell tale lights are for indicators and rear fog lights,
You can use a single light for indicators and you dont need one if you can see the indicators form the drivers position.

Hope this helps.

dunno about the colour requirements for sva but it does sound a bit silly to have the indicator tell-tale lights blue, main beam green and brake yellow....

just stick with the standards is my opinion... it will be easier to interpret them once u're driving...

I wasn't intending to change the colours - it's all part of the digi-dash project I've been tinkering with for years. What I really wanted to know was whether I could just show the symbols on the LCD (which is backlit, but all one colour) or whether it was a necessity to have the right colour LEDs. Would look far more slick to have the symbols pop up and as I've got a fully graphical screen it seems a waste not to use it!

I can't even see anything about indicator tell tale colours, just that you have to have them if you can't see em from the seat.

Only stipulations I can see in the bible are foglight must have a telltale, and brake fluid warning light must be red and have brake symbol on it.
