registration query
I need help in what to do regarding my locost registration
I have no log book for any of the donor parts because they were all purchased seperatly from various breakers yards.
I have also fitted an 893cc fireblade engine that I know the origons of but the engine number has been crossed out so that the race engine he fitted
is now his original blade engine, do you follow me? how will I go about registering it?
I am also toying with the idea of selling it as a trackday car to avoid any agrovation. Any help appreciated

Yes you can, but you have to fill in the correct form in triplicate, then have it signed by your local car dealer and their head office

If all the bits are from a breakers then just say that you have no idea what year or registration car they're from- they'll give you a Q
plate no problems.
With regard to the engine number, you could try getting your own number engraved on. Some SVA examiners will accept that... On the other hand, at SVA
and at the vehicle examination for my car the examiners decided not to check the number because it was right under the car and it was cold and raining
at the time
I'd be tempted to get a different engine (ie one with an engine number on it) and keep the other one for post-registration in case you pop the
first one.... Sorry

Do you guess a number its only the last 3 digits that alter?
Dont really want to face prosecution for my hobby and soil my reputation.
Understand what you are saying about the Q plate but do I really want a Q plate?

See, now our earlier posts make no sense
Phone up your local DVLA and SVA places and ask them. Every where is different, so you need to know what your local ones want...

When you book your SVA you will have to complete an "Amateur Built Declaration" letter stating the source of all your components (inc
chassis). That has to be processed by VOSA before the SVA. You also have to submit form V627/1 (Built Up Vehicle Inspection Report) stating the origin
of chassis;axles;transmission;steering assembly;engine;suspension (back & front).
Ithink you might accrue enough points with your engine and gearbox to qualify for an age-related plate (stand by to be corrected) .
Your real problem is that you need to prove the date of manufacture of your engine for the emission test at the SVA - otherwise it will be deemed to
be after 1st August 1997 and you will need a cat to get through the test ( and any subsequent MOT's).
Can you go back to the person selling your m/c engine and get the original number of his "race" block? You could then apply for the V5 and
go from there.
Alternatively i think the DVLA can issue "new" engine numbers (as they have to for Eg stolen/ recovered etc or engines that have been
"rung" or cloned) but that might mean the engine being treated as a 2006 unit anyway
Involving the DVLA may also mean an inspection by the police leading to all sorts of problems if they raise the original number on the block and
discover it still "exists" in another vehicle.
Therefore Iwould make tentative (and anonymous) enqiries of VOSA/DVLA as to what the procedures are.

I am thinking of saving myself a lot of agro and building the kit as a trackday car. After speaking to many people these cars are best suited to the
track. after comments from the wife I think my licence would be safer on the track than a twisty A road as they are rather light and skittish and
behave like rockets.

True, they make good track cars but why waste the oportunity to drive to and from? Me thinks this thread is unnecessarily complicated.
Speak to Vosa ref engine number, especially if you can get receipt. DVLA will be able to register as Q no probs. Nothing wrong with a Q - think of it
like a kit car private plate that allows you to sell it for more than a track only car.
