Acewell digital speedo
Hi,
Someone posted a note saying that they had purchased a Acewell digital speedo. Looking at the site I have desided that I'm getting one for
christmas (handy time of year!). Question is will this work with standard car fuel sender and temperature sensors? If you have one, what do you think
of it, worth the money? Looks well smart on the web site...

the 38xx one, It has 8 warning lights and I like the flat design. They seem very cheap compared to others I've seen which were many times more
expensive. I had ruled one off these things on cost grounds.

If I recall the fuel sender needs to be a 0-100 Ohm type. And I think its 0 when empty.
Check your current sender to see what resistance range it has. There are plenty about which are 0-100 (VDO have a boat range which are) but they
aren't cheap.
Make sure you get the correct 38xx. Only the latest one has the 8 lights even though the older ones are pictured with 8.

Hi,
Check out this thread for some discussion on the subject:
http://www.locostbuilders.co.uk/viewthread.php?tid=46296
As you will see the sender needs to be zero ohms when full and 100 ohms when empty. I bought a sender from tek-dek and it is a very nice bit of kit.
Note the bit about US spec and European spec in the other thread.
On the dash, I bought the one with the 8 lights (which turned out to only have 6... ) - kinda spoiled it a bit and I ended up ditching the light
cluster and just using the main dash along with a Bright 6 warning lamp module. I wish I'd done this from the start to be honest.
Give me a shout if you have any questions.
Cheers,
Craig.

Thanks Craig,
Yeh I'm going ask just how many lights it has as I want 8. Spoke to him briefly, he was off to the supermarket for his lunch. Sounds like
he's getting in new stock at the end of the week. I have a beetle sender that should work fine going by the ost you sent.
Cheers.

Thanks Craig,
Did what you suggested and just bought the unit by itself as the lights virtually doubled the price! Didn’t notice that at first. Nice one.
yes this will work with the pinto.

Yeah I think you are better off with the dash only and perhaps a Bright 6 module for the lights. Other than the fact the light cluster only had 6
lights (one of which was a Neutral light which was no use to me) I also couldn't fit it such that I could see it through the spokes of my
steering wheel. With the dash on its own I can see it fine through the top spokes of the wheel. I think when I bought mine it was £99 and without the
lights it was just £63 Bright 6 was just £29.99
Let me know if I can help with anything else.
Cheers,
Craig.
