Reg Question

Ok. Just a quick and hopefully easy one for you.
My donor car has been registered as scrap (by the previous owner) and i was wondering, how can i prove that my locost has been built mainly from parts out of the donor car? I dont really want a 'Q' plate.

How long can i resist the temptation to drop a V8 in?

if the previous owner has told the dvla it has been scrapped ,then the vehicle should no longer exist.it should have been broken up and disposed of,
I would think getting a age related plate from your doner would be impossible.
And selling vehicle to you when it has been registered as being scrapped is dodgy

maybe a phone call to dvla asking if you could re register it ,maybe the previous owner may get into trouble.I dont know ?but maybe worth a try.

Who said the donor was a Jag? sounds reasonable to assume, in the absence of more specific information, that it could be a sierra.

Speedyxjs - what are you building? Sounds like an interesting project. Jag engined locost - which engine?

I had a similar situation as follows.

I bought a half complete car, guy had scrapped the donor and kept the VIN plate. I had no V5.

I tried everything to get the reg from the VIN plate but couldn't. In the end I tracked the guy I bought it off and he told me the Reg.

I then filled out a form asking for a replacement V5 and sent £18 to the DVLA. New V5 cam back by return and then I had to SORN the car that had been scrapped!!

Finally got my MAC and reg and then scrapped it again. I did have the VIN plate but I'm not sure that made a great deal of difference. If you know the reg you probably can get a V5 like I did and then an age related plate is no problem.

I went to great lengths and expense to get an age related plate but am not really sure why. I'd probably just go for Q next time.

HTH

I used to be apathetic but now I just don't care.

The engine doesn't have to be from the vehicle detailed on the V5 to get an age related plate though
