Date of First Registration
Just received my V5C back from the DLVA after getting the buggy on the road. First thing I noticed before opening it up was in Section 3 it states
'Was registered/used Overseas. Declared manufactured 1988'. Opened it up to find Date of first registration is 05-08-1988 & Date of
first registration in UK is 01-04-2007. When I took it to the DVLA in Sheffield I was told that as the only serial number they could find on the buggy
was the engine number which corresponded with the V5C of the donor I couldn't keep the orginal registration number, they would have to issue a
age related registration number. They would also have to charge a £37.50 registration fee.
My question really is shouldn't the manufacture date also be 01-04-2007 which would exempt me from MOT's for the next 3 years.

I think it depends what way the wind is blowing and the phase of the moon....
Trying to get consistency out of the DVLA is near impossible......

TBH that was my thought, I may have to wait until I come to tax it again to find out whether the situation. My only concern is if i get pulled by PC
Plod how will he view a car manufactured in 1988 running around without an MOT.
