registration nearly completed....

Hi All,

Just to let you know that I spent 5 mins this morning with the VOSA chap checking my chassis number and engine number on Vincent that was on the back of a trailer that cost me £50 to hire....and correct it still has not moved or changed from passing the SVA......said the reg should be thru in a couple of days.....and now there is a postal strike.....also was very apologetic about having to come to another place for checking and that there are plans to bring the two computer systems (DVLA, VOSA) together and that in future DVLA will rely on the data collected at the SVA.....Brilliant idea!!!!...shame it is a couple of years late....so I should be seen driving Vincent around the W. Mids in a few days time with any luck...

I guess you mean DVLA. Or have they subcontracted that back to VOSA in your area?!

There are so many times when life would be better if people could just get their systems working together. It always seems so simple but I get the feeling when your database is as massive as the DVLA's making changes becomes an incredibly complicated and expensive exercise

It would make so much sense if DVLA and VOSA combined.

After all @ SVA they check the engine number and the chassis number, why the feck does the man or woman from DVLA then have to do it again (whilst usually spouting BS)....

But then the DVLA wouldn't be the PITA that they appear to relish being....

To pass the SVA we went to the VOSA centre in Shrewsbury.

While I was in South Africa for a few weeks, her in doors got all the paper work together and went to the DVLA (B'ham) and handed over all receipts and certificates. When I came home last week, she said that I had to get the car to the VOSA center in B'ham on Monday and get the engine and chassis number checked.

The DVLA (B'ham) office must not have anyone who can check / read a chassis / engine number and so farmed it out to VOSA (B'ham) to check.

These two B'ham agency's are a few miles apart and I am now wondering why they did not ring up Shrewsbury VOSA and ask them as they have the SVA certificate and the inspectors name......Mind boggles......
