SVA Scoring
I'm building an MK indy using the sierria as a donner.
So far :
G/Box
Brakes F/R
Hubs F/R
Diff
Driveshafts
Steering Column
Rack (modified)
Handbrake
Battery
are all sierria
Radiator -Suzuki
Dash - custom
Brake masters Cyc- custom
interior - Will be custom.
Exhaust - SS/ Side pipe
The engine was going to be the 1.8cvh Lump from the sierria but I'm starting to think 2.0l Zetec or even just Zetec (Pre 93/91). But from a
mondao (Not spelt correct) or something
Would I have enough points to use the sierria reg or end up as a 'Q' Plate........?
P.S. I dont think I want a 'Q'
Since SV02 XXX style reg's do you get a 'Q' or is it some other form?
Scot's do it better in Kilts.

Don't confuse SVA with the DVLA regulations!
SVA is a "fitness for purpose" test, no more.
The business of whether you get a 'Q' plate or not is entirely separate, and is based on DVLA rules and regulations. The best way to find
out is to get hold of the DVLA leaflets, which you can pick up at your local vehicle licencing office, or they'll cheerfully post them to you.
Their explanation is fairly clear (sometimes too clear!) - but sometimes the local DVLA officers make their own mind up despite the rules.
Anyway, having a 'Q' plate has some advantages - subsequent MOT's only test for visible smoke rather than specific emission targets,
for example.

that could be quite an advantage! new engine, no cat etc...
mad, if you register the engine into the donor first you should be able to count it as a single donor construct. i think.

It generally seems that if you can show a V5 for a donor car that supplied your engine and gearbox, AND can supply details that your chassis was new
(steel bills or invoice from MK or Luego, etc) then you will get a year reg related to the donor.
If you turn up with a hybrid, no V5, or at a VRO office when its the 'time of the month' for the clerk there, you might get a different
resonse...

From what you list even with the zetec engine you should get a age related plate to match Sierra. Start early with reg documents and try and get the
car inspected and a build up form completed as soon as it starts to look like a car, makes life a lot easier when applying for a age related plate. I
suspect "Q" plate emissions thing has already changed if not you bet it will soon. Make sure you get proof of the Sierra having the been
the donor, V5 and some pics before breaker carts it off are good.

Take some pictures of a car that looks like it from the side or Photoshop some numberplates onto the pictures.
