sva or engineers report
My Son and I are putting a skyline engine gearbox .front and rear axles /suspension in a ford escort mk1
and would like to know if it needs a sva or engineers report .before it goes back on the road.
The shell is as ford made it but with a lot of added strength to take the power /bhp and weight thankyou

If the chassis / monocoque is unaltered then the vehicle doesn't neet an SVA. A simple MOT deems it to be road worthy and changes to the
registration document makes it legal. It all depends on what additions you've made to the shell.
New brackets for the engine and running gear are probably OK as are, perhaps, seam welds to stiffen the shell up a bit. If you've welded big
tubes into the shell you might be deemed to have altered the monocoque, in which case, book an SVA.

No SVA needed but an engineers report would probably be needed by the insurance company

Do WRC Rally cars need an SVA then?

I would have generally thought that adding structure is fine, it's alterations that remove parts of the original chassis that would make the
vehicle need an SVA.

No alterations to chassis. flares to wheel arches and turrets in the boot for the suspension

my understanding is that if the vehicle is more than 10 years old it doesn't need an sva

Id speak to your insurance company and ask them. Usually need to get an engineers report if you've altered the structure.
I doubt a Mk1 would pass an SVA for sharp edges on everything etc.

I'd say as you've added structure not removed it an engineers report would be all that was necessary - sounds an EVIL machine BTW
I no longer run Furore Products or Furore Cars Ltd, but would still highly recommend them for Acewell dashes, projector headlights, dominator
headlights, indicators, mirrors etc, best prices in the UK! Take a look at http://www.furoreproducts.co.uk/ or find more parts on Ebay, user names
furoreltd & furoreproducts, discounts available for LCB users.
Don't forget Stainless Steel Braided brake hoses, made to your exact requirements in any of around 16 colours.

Do WRC Rally cars need an SVA then?
Do they start off with road registered cars then modify them or do they get blank body shells from the factory then build from that?
I guess that if you ask 3 people from the DVLA, you'll get three answers. Pick the one that says "no".
