Rear Wheel and Arches

IIRC the wheels cannot stick out further than the arches. How does the SVA measure? Just put a straight edge against them? I ask because my tyres are poking out by around 10mm and towards the back bottom edge the arches start to taper slightly so more sticks out. I'm not sure why. I've got a De Dion with Sierra bits and the wide Luego arches which are about 11 1/2" my wheels are TSW Alpine 195/50/15 and as such looking at the profile of the 5 'arms' of the wheel they bulge out slightly. Will this be a problem if the tyres are not. Has anyone else had this problem?

Just thought. Could it be the wheel offset that it causing me this hassle. Honestly, nothing seems to go right at all lately with this thing!

At least you could make a proffit on the re sale.
When i asked about the tyre size, i have 195 wheels with 215 tyres, thus making the tyre 20mm wider than the wheel, if you fit 195 tyres they wont be proud of the wheel arches.

Hi Mr G

The sva book says....

"Wheels which, above the horizontal plane passing through the axis of rotation, must not project beyond the body plan form."

(I take it that its middle of the wheel and above ???)

Well I've just measured the offset its a wonky floor but it comes out around 11-12 so I guess they were off a Peugeot which is 13. A long way off the 38 that I should have. *Sigh* So I now need some more wheels. You know it really pee's me off. As someone else wrote the other day how come things go fine before they go wrong. I was thinking about p/x ing my motorbike in the next week or 2 too but that'll have to wait. Still,looking on the brighter side, my life expectancy has just improved I suppose

My tester measured off the wheel rims - had a sort-of ruler that had projections which he held against the rim. He then measured off that to the edge of the bodywork.

A very rough guide is to look straight down from above - if you can see tread then you've probably got problems.

Yep problems then. Bugger. Just been looking at some team dynamics 1.2 up the road in bury for £329 might end up getting them. I've decided that Ebay is a bit of a mine field sometimes.

You have a few options;

1- Get some new wheels with the correct offset.

2- Fit some Sierra wheels for the SVA.

3- Introduce some negative camber
