Incompetent Retards

Why are the DVLA such Incompetent Retards

<SOAPBOX>In October 2007 i registered my newly completed car with the DVLA. I took all the donor information in V5 etc and the kit car was registered with the correct age related plate. 6 months later I got two tax reminders! One for a Seirra and one for the MAC#1.

So i tried to sort this problem out. The DVLA in Sheffield have fantastic opening hours M-F 9.30 till 5. Fantastic when you have a M-F 9-5.30 job. So i tried the phone number - this does not even ring "Sorry all our lines are busy" So i attempted to contact them via email to explain the situation and they replied with the following helpful information.

Thank you for your email.
Having checked the record for J** *** I am able to advise that at present no notification of disposal has been received/processed by DVLA.

I am sorry, but we are unable to accept notification of the sale/disposal of your vehicle via e-mail as a signature is required.

If you no longer have the V5/V5C you will need to write or fax to the address below quoting the registration number, make/model of the vehicle, the exact date of sale/transfer/scrapping and the name/address of the new keeper/motor trader/scrap dealer. Please write or fax to: -

Vehicles Customer Services
DVLA
Swansea
SA99 1BA

FAX: 01792 78 3063

Please note we are issuing automatic acknowledgement letters to confirm that keepers are no longer responsible for the vehicle.

Regards

Helen Coleman

He's learn't the secret of time travel

he could make a killing with the bookies

It must be certain offices as i've had no problems with the Ipswich Office, but had poor service over the tin top with the Swansea office

Same happened to me. I renewed the donor Sorn maybe 2 months before SVA and registration of the kit. Got a Sorn reminder for the donor after my ZR was registered! Cant remember how i dealt with it - i think i phoned Swansea. Not heard about it since so must have been done.

6 months after registration of ZR i was refused tax due to no MOT. Apparantly swansea didnt issue the first V5 correctly. I phoned local DVLA office - ididnt quite catch what she said on the phone but it was along the lines of "Oh no, Swansea have demonstrated there incompetence again". Local office issued tax that time.

Golden rule seems to be - keep copies of everything and put in your diary to check that notifications are recieved after 28 days.
