Engine No

If a V5 is sent off to record a change of engine no does the new engine number effectively become "Dated" as the first registration of the car??? If you see what I mean

If it looks wrong it probably is wrong.

The date of first registration for the car will remain the same as before, that never changes. I don`t think V5`s record the age/year of engines.

No but the v5 from the donor will list the engine no as proof of age.

I did this with a Mondeo zetec engine and a Cortina V5. Still had to pass SVA emmisions on the age of the engine (with the Ford letter as proof of age as a '93 engine) but got an age related plate out of it ('77 on a P-plate).

You wont get away with changing the engine number on the V5 and using this as proof for SVA emmissions - just registration

But the question remains, as the engines are so similar, how will they know it is not the original?????
