DVLA Inspection.

After passing my SVA on Friday, I have a DVLA inspection this Thursday at the local DVLA offices.

I am guessing that the DVLA just want to see for themselves that the engine number and chassis number I have submitted are real & on the same car, is this correct?

Or is there something else I need to be on my toes for.

Do I get assigned a registration straight away?

Cheers,

B

They want to see that the declared body type, colour and numbers of wheels and seats are right too.

I didn't get my plates straight away, It took weeks of phoning and visiting the DVLA local offices before I persuaded them to give me a number.

Good luck! I found this more of a PITA than the SVA. First time the inspector "couldn't read" the number which was on a floor chassis member, mind you he would not bend down to read it!He also was not convinced the car was silver becuase it was "unpainted". Second time around I got an inspector who was rational and I got my plates the same day.

Good Luck!

Hows this one for you? I started my build in May 1998. As things progressed quickly I filled in the relevant forms and got a chassis number in January 2001 after a Police check and presenting some invoices to DVLA for inspection. Build progress slowed somewhat (stalled is more like it!) Then in October 2004 I started to receive letters asking what was happening. I replied in a number of ways basically explaining that I would present for SVA as and when I was ready and that I was not aware of any time scale for completion. Eventually they sent me a letter in 2006 returning my Built Up Vehicle Inspection Report and said I would have to re-apply. Bare in mind they had issued a chassis number based on this form and the police inspection! Then in July 2007 they asked me for loads of info including a SVA pass to get the vehicle registered. THEN in September 07 I get a letter to present all the relevant info on a date in October and informing me that they have ISSUED ME WITH A REGISTRATION NUMBER. So, chassis number, registration number but no SVA. Mmmmmm!!! How many people get a Q reg number before SVA?
