SVA lead time

Afternoon all

Well I'm nearly there. Just a handful of jobs to go until the car is finished. Unfortunately due to space constraints some require the car outside which with the weather is a bit of a problem.

What sort of time from applying for an SVA is the test? I don't really want to put myself under pressure to finish as sods law I'll make a hash of something but at the same time don't really want to be waiting round for ages either.

So if I sent my application off next week what approximate time will it be to the test.

I appreciate that different stations have differing waitnig times, just after an estimate.

Thanks
Nigel

At Edmonton when I applied it was 6 weeks but then it was November. You can chose a particular day if you want to, just make sure it's well in advance so that it's unlikely to have already gone...

I sent my application off for SVA 4 weeks ago & then received a couple of letters asking for a little more information etc & Ive only just got my appointment date through for Chadderton & its in 4 weeks time from now.

I would say from sending your application off and the actual SVA date should probably be between 6-8 weeks

But that may depend upon which test centre you apply to have the inspection carried out at & their list of.

Don't forget that if the SVA's getting close and you realise that there's no way that your car will be ready, you can postpone the test for a while - all they ask for is some advance notice (a few days, IIRC).

You can then re-book directly with the test centre once you're ready.

Similar to above. Initially around 6 weeks. But I found that if you phone the following week they suddenly have a cancelation.

My original retest was around 3 weeks lead in. I phoned a few days later and they gave me 2 dates within a week
