new sva?
Hi there guys,
i think i know what the sva is all about but i have read something about them changing this test so that all builders have to fit abs brakes and a few
other things which i think is almost impossible! Are they changing it anytime soon because i don't really want to start building my indy just to
get told i can't put it through the test?! cheers

According to the bloke at Norwich this morning, it's likely to come in at the beginning of APril - so get cracking!
Not sure about many of the details but there's going to be a huge fee hike apparently. Huge.

Fee hike, yes; difficult new standards, no. Ignore the rumors and speculation, the draft testers' manual has been published and there is a link
in the sticky topic at the top of the SVA/Legal forum. The only change likely to actually cause trouble (for BEC builders) is the requirement for a
reversing mechanism.
The change date has also been officially published as 29th April 2009.

I think there is also a new requirement for impact-absorbing head restraints. Presumably a block of suitable material glued to the rear bulkhead would
do ?

Or a normal seat with a head rest.
Low back seats are effectively being banned, which is cr*p for cobra owners, I suppose, but most 7 owners already respect their necks.

I read the Vosa draft. You need to read the BIVA and not the IVA.
So who can make the list below complete?
- Sound level from 101 to 99 dB; maybe you need over axle pipes?
- Effective Date on engines; so you can still use "old" engines, in NL you need to have cat and exhaust <0,3....
- visibility angles on lightning; can cause problems on the front.
- identification off controls; all parts must be marked.
- reverse needed
Please feel free to correct my bad English, i'm still learning. Your Dutch is awfull! :-)
