SVA retest -fail!!!!

Took the car to Cardiff for the re test and failed-

Passed emissions /self centring

Failed on noise again- 103 - despite repacking and my own home made baffle which seemed to be working. Examiner did think it could be background engine noise.

Also headlights failed again- despite being new -same as last time- lens focused towards right not left--Spanish made so for left hand drive?????????????

Anyway back next week

Maybe go to a scrappy and get some of the engine bay sound proofing you get on some of the bigger cars and line your engine bay with it.

Is he testing with the bonnet in place? My examiner said it makes a massive difference to the noise levels.

I saw a nearly 2dB drop on the test meter at Richard Quinn's SVA yesterday when he rested the bonnet back in place!! Induction noise is a pretty common cause of excess noise

Yes, agree with the comment about the bonnet being in place. Mine was 94db at Carlisle and he said it would have been lower with the bonnet on!!!
