anybody know about Swansea dislexia?
I have just bought a C20XE engine (red top). With it came a photocopy of the V5 for documentary proof for engine origin.
The problem is that the engine number on the doc is slightly different to the actual number.
The V5 says 14067381
The engine is 14067183
It is obviously the same number, but is this likely to cause me a problem with SVA - sorry - IVA and/or registration with DVLA?

It will be a problem at some point.
I had an unwelcome visit from the police investigating stolen engines.
Turned out the DVLA had missed out 1 digit from my engine number somewhere between the forms I filled in and the v5.

they are useless, they left my surname completely off all documentation. I thought it was funny having official Dvla stuff addressed to simply
Liam.
I stopped smiling when my insurance company requested a copy of my v5 and wouldn't accept it. cost me £25 quid to put it right. i might have
argued about the charge on another day but i needed it in a hurry

Further info I gleaned today off the robin hood site suggested a bit of a crafty way around this problem!
Maybe?
There was a thread on there where several members suggested to get the engine 'put in' the Sierra (as far as the DVLA is concerned) I
still have the V5 which is declared SORN. I would send this off to them, and get the redtop engine added to it - correct number this time ! and when
I come to register it, not only is the engine number right, but it is some more points from the donor car.
Now, what do people think?

For IVA they want evidence that the engine was actually in the car (ie. photo's) before accepting the V5 as proof of age for emmisions.

For IVA you need to prove the engine was in the donor in the first place.
Maybe you could do a bit of photoshopping to "prove" the engine was in the Sierra?

Check your vin number when you get your V5, I altered the VIN plate on my RH to match, they had got the numbers wrong way round in TWO places,
