What max force for handbrake cable??
Sva man failed my handbrake fixings, i have a standard sierra handbrake and one handbrake cable, the cable is cut in 2 pieces and then the 2 ends
wraped around a piece of metal and used as a pivot, the ends of the cable are fixed to the cable its self with rope grips ...see picture
He said the rope grips aint suffiecent enough and may slip.
Now im a lift engineer and dont normally use ones this small so havent got any data sheets, and normally we reccomend 3 or 4 on every rope- but in
this case its only a little handbrake and not a heavy lift car.

I have a similar arrangement, except my cables don't even attach back on themselves, they pull against the clamp. SVA man only tested the
efficiency ididn't even look at the mechanism. Seems its different wherever you go though.
Did he suggest an alternative arrangment??

Yes, he asked for made off/swaged ends.
I can do this at work but i feel it is secure as it is and ive got more adjustment this way.
Also due to the way the MNR tunnel cover fits over the handbrake, the handbrake needs to be pointing to the sky to get the tunnel cover on- which i
normally fit then fit and tighten the rope grips, but this wont be possible with made off ends.
Ive got food lifts/goods lifts running with 1 or 2 ropes and a couple of rope grips supporting the weight- but cant seem to get a data sheet to prove
the smaller ones are up to the job.

I would side with the G man on this -- you never see one used on its own always 2 or 3

Newcastle SVA just won't accept them. Darren had a problem with them as well.
If you can get the cables swaged at work for no cost, then do that!

Ill do them at work, just need to find a way to get them on as its virtually impossible currently.
