Shock mount edging & tunnel access
Hi,
What is the general consensus about edges for shock top and bottom mounts?
Looking at the MK mounts I suspect they will be reachable with the dreaded 100mm sphere
Its not like you can easily bang on some edging as for a good portion of the mount there is a ruddy wishbone in the way on one side .
What people done? Rubber gaiters or something else?
The other thing is the prop shaft tunnel. Now I've got the carpet in e.t.c its a horror to get to again.
I've photo graphed the tunnel but will the examiner need access to the tunnel for the test?
I'd rather not have to take the sodding seats back out again to get the carpet up as part of the tunnel carpeting is under the foor carpeting
for neatness.

my view is the can only access what they can access. My tunnel was open underneath and that was ample.
Testing for projections at the front is from the front only, i believe.

Yep, I think the shock can be reached from the front.
After just measuring my fist, I think if I stick my middle two knuckels out I can just squeze down to 100mm. I'll have to look around the garden
to see if there are, any post dog chewing, balls that are the right size.

What I'm concerned about with the tunnel access is if I'd fail the IVA on not being able to provide access to the tunnel.
You see I use the base of the tunnel to p-clip down the fuel line in a couple of places as it runs past the diff. The problem would be that its a
hassle cutting an inspection hole (let alone me doing the sods law of cutting though the fuel lines )

When i spoke to the tester on my sva retest, he said that under iva he can present the sphere in any direction.

Not to be a PITA but when I took my SVA I had to give access to the tunnel, and yes that involved removing the carpet, so "only those things
easily accessable" does not "always" apply. Cheers Ray

Thanks for the input guys.
I think for the tunnel, I'll chop the carpet. After all its only going to be a fiver for some new carpet later, which is naff all compared to
retest costs.
