SVA FAIL...DOH!
Hi Guys,
Arrived at chadderton at 8am, for my 9.30 am test. Was scehduled to last two hours due to the 3 pages opf fails on my test 5 months ago!
Got a different tester, Dave his name was - top bloke, but very meticulous.
He didn;t like the SVA cheat bar much, and decided to have a right good poke round the suspension, finally finding a few sharp edges - which I covered
straight away, and he was happy.
he found another edge with that big wedge on wheels on the exhaust, but a quick bash with a hammer once loose and all was good there!
Loads of the old fails were flew through - ticks everywhere!
Even my brake bias - which i;d welded on the weekend worked faultlessly!
Next came the self centreing - well thanks to Wozsher, she straightened up like a gooden!
Whilst we were outside he said we'd do the noise test, which I thought I'd fail (it was 104dB last time)- but I passed - JUST! I think he
was being kind because he said it was "close, but I'll give you it"!
At this point I started getting a bit giddy, as the possibilty of a pass was before me, I couldn;t believe I'd gone from three pages of fails to
a pass...but it wasn't to be!
We did the emissions on the way in, and whilst the CO was within range, the Hydrocarbons were 1450 vs. a limit of 1200. Bit cheesed off, but took it
on the chin. As he was testing it, my original tester came across to find out how I was doing, it was nice he remembered me. Dave said,
"he's passed on everything, all three pages, its only the emissions are out." The other tester leaned in and said, "how much
by?" which made me feel like if it had been closer to the limit they might have let it slide... oh well!
Final test was the speedo - which I knew was wrong, but wanted the printout before I started lumping magnets off the prop. It was double, so
I'll try to sort it, and if I can;t by taking magnets off I'll have to buy one of them speedo healers.
So - on the way out I rebooked for next Monday, and on the way home dropped the car in at a rolling road in Bury.
Just got to figure out how the hell I can collect it as I live in liverpool, work in old trafford (manchester) and the trailer is at my mother in laws
- the logistics will be a bit stressful I think - but at least I can be sure they will lean it off enough to get it through SVA!
Thanks for the well wishers, its appreiciated.

Good to hear, not so bad; shame about the HC's but next time it'll will pass
Had similar problem with the HC's and CO, fortunately after a few tries, we got a pass (it was that close)...

This is my first retest that I've made it to. All the others I've had to cancel with one thing or another. So was pretty chuffed.

Hard luck but at least it's down to a managable list now. HC at 1400 is very high as the 1200 pass is pretty generous and you should get that
sorted easy enough.

Thanks Adrian,
Yes it is high, the car would start with no choke from stone cold - which is meant to be a sign that its running rich. hydrocardons is a posh word for
unburnt fuel as far as i can tell, so hopefully a few hours on the rollers and i'll be laughing!
