quick fuel tank / protrusions question
What are the rules on this with regards to IVA?
My tank comes up from underneath the car, then with some plates that go underneath the tank that then bolt on the chassis, with straps over the tank
in to these plates to hold it all down.
One of the mounting bolts is perpendicular to the tank at the back of tha car. I am led to believe this will fail?
Will one on those plastic nut caps be sufficient? Or will it need re desgining?
Also is it only if the threaded part of the the bolt is facing the tank, or if the bolt head is facing, will this fail?
Hope all of that makes sense?
Thanks
Mikkel

If your worried about it, then that's all you need to make a decision. It certain would concern that it could pearce the tank in an accident.
Personally both my mounting bolts face down away from the tank.

The IVA tests for anything that could puncture the tank in a rear end.
Most people are putting the tanks over the diff close to the rear of the passenger cell.
In your case i would simply turn the strap over and have the bolt bellow the tank.

I cant turn it over, the mounting point is at the very bottom of the rear rail, to gt the tank as low as possible,
What if i put a round headed bolt through it so that the head of the bolt was facing the tank, this wouldnt puncture th tank?
Would that be ok?
