Stupid licence question
For those of us that passed our driving test after 1997, we can only drive up to a maximum of 3500kg and can tow either a maximum gross train weight
of 3500kg or, if the tow vehicle has a GVW of 3500kg, can tow up to 750kg.
Now what if one has a cat C1 licence? Do the same towing restrictions still apply?
How long can i resist the temptation to drop a V8 in?

C1 is 8.25T MAM.

Iv just found this which answers my question

You can drive anything - its if you get stopped that you'll need the licence!

INteresting. If you have B only you can tow a trailer heavier than 750kg as long as the combined MAM is <= 3500kg. Would have thought the
equivalent aplpied to C.

i think its unlikely that you would get stopped pulling a trailer anyway, assuming all else is right and safe. Ive moved a lot of big looking trailers
recently and no one has batted an eyelid at me.

However, if you don't have the correct type of licence and are therefore driving without a licence your insurance will be invalid. This is a
bad thing, for fairly obvious reasons, as it means if you have a serious crash that's your fault you can quite easily end up bankrupt.
