Failed IVA
took my mk to nottingham for IVA yesterday and unfortnatly failed on a couple of things
Side repeaters mounted on the scuttle will not pass
- the best place for them is the rear arch but make sure they are less than 2.6 metres from the front of the car and 350mm above the ground
Speedo - i have a koso guage in mine and it worked fine but now its decided it doesn't want to give me a speed over 40mph ( faulty speed sensor
apparently)
but flew through emissions without any fiddling ( shell V power helped )
noise was 94db at 7500rpm
will give a full report once ive had it retested

Why won't repeaters on the scuttle pass IVA, when mine passed SVA in that very location?
Good result from the sound of it though

The exception they allowed for seven style cars went on IVA. The rear wings block the view of the side repeaters from the back.
Some one was trying side repeaters on the front headlights. I did them on edge of the rear wing.

Why do I have to make the tools to finish the job? More time then money.

wouldn't have worked for me being high up on my scuttle as my aero screan and roll cage would block the view
like i said the best place for them is the edge of the rear arch as the side repeaters are actually needed to be fully operational,

my seem a silly idea, but if a 7style car has problems with side repeaters, can more then 1 be fitted, i was thinking 1 in each arch, and maybe 1 in
scuttle or side mirror, as well as normal front and rear, or are we only allowed to fit 1 front, 1 middle and 1 rear

Sounds like you will end up with a car shaped xmas tree with all those side repeaters

what about repeaters mounted on the underside of the wing mirrors (showing forwards and rearwards)??
surely they will be visible from pretty much everywhere?

you must have 2 front indicators, 2 side and 2 rear indicators
but you can also have 2 additional side marker lamps towards the rear between the side and rear indicators and 2 side marker lamps towards the front
between the front and side indicators, to compensate for your required lights not achieving all the viewing angles.
its all there in black and white in the iva manual.
Note though, side marker lamps are not indicators. They just come on and off with the position lamps.

What about mirrors with side repeaters?
I know this was a moot point but new golfs and other oems use them so they must be legal??

Thinking the same myself. If it's acceptable for production cars then I can't see why not.

the indicators on golf wing mirrors would not pass an iva and no indicators on the bottom on the wind mirrors would not work
MR IVA tester says
" have to be mounted within 2600mm from front of car and between 350mm and 1500mm from the ground of which they have to be visible from 15
degrees above the light and 5 degrees below
and 5degrees out and 60 degrees out horizontally
