just to let you all know!
i called in my local iva test center friday to ask the iva tester a few questions on setting my car up ready for the test. he told me the only thing
that has to work is the hazards when egnition is off. he also told me the fog lamp can only work when diped and main beam are on! he said most of the
cars he tests people have wired the fog to a permanant live so be warned they will fail you for this! he was realy helpfull and said if i had any
questions i needed to ask just to call in. he also said my bike engine will have to comply with car emissions as the bike engineis now in a car and is
classed as a car engine now so that got me a bit worried.

And it started so well.
I'm sure that is twaddle (about the engine)
Which is your "local"?

its not twaddle, all engines going through IVA have to go through the CAT/NON-CAT car engine based emissions tests dependent on year.

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

Well that told me!
So having looked through very briefly, where does it reference that a BEC is treated differently and where the source of the engine rather than
it's age is is key to the required pass level?

The point is a BEC is treated no differently to a car engine i.e. it's treated to the same standards as a car engine - which is harder for a BEC
since they tend to have high emissions and are noisy simply due to being very highly tuned and reving very high.

Never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level, then beat you with experience.

No offence taken :-]
THe greater point is that this is no different at all from SVA and emmisions is engine age related
Anyway moving on, this perfectly doable so don't worry
