Steering wheel exempt zone and aeroscreens
I seem to remember reading that if an aeroscreen is fitted the 127mm interior projection exempt zone around the steering wheel doesn't apply.
Is this right as this will affect what type of ignition switch i fit to my dash.

As I understand the regs if you have NO screen at all thenyou lose the exempt zone, providing you have some form of screen to differentiate between
the interior & exterior of the car then you should have the exempt area
I no longer run Furore Products or Furore Cars Ltd, but would still highly recommend them for Acewell dashes, projector headlights, dominator
headlights, indicators, mirrors etc, best prices in the UK! Take a look at http://www.furoreproducts.co.uk/ or find more parts on Ebay, user names
furoreltd & furoreproducts, discounts available for LCB users.
Don't forget Stainless Steel Braided brake hoses, made to your exact requirements in any of around 16 colours.

I went for IVA today without any screen and they seemed to be saying with no screen the exempt area extends to the outside of the scuttle. I
wan't about to argue
I think also they were saying that no screen makes a difference to what is regarded as interior or exterior projections.

I'm addicted to brake fluid, but I can stop anytime.

Thanks for the replys. As i understand it any kind of screen shouldn't make any difference at all. The only mention of the screen i can see is
'area C' which is the windscreen pillar, which i won't have. Very confusing this.

I have simply repeated exactly what I was told by a tester who failed an item directly behind the steering wheel (ie defo what would normally be the
exempt area) for a sharp edge - we fitted a 1" high 6mm thick perspex "screen" & he was then perfectly happy!

Do you think the same would apply with a carbon mods aeroscreen?

So far as I could establish all they were interested in was that something defined the break between inside & outside - so yes
