IVA & emissions
Hi guys,
i have been hunting on here for the answer and the IVA manual is quite frankly confusing me..
Does someone have a simplified version of the rules on emissions dependant on the engine age?
Ta in advance.

Somewhere inbetween 01/93 and when Blacktops started in 05/98 then.

post aug 95 needs a cat.
Your donor engine is not sat in the donor at test so does not meet there list. Thats where the most confusion lies.
The Iva in my opinion is one big grey area for 7's, really does come down to the testers interpritation on lots of things that are not black
and white.

ah ok, just had another read.
i see the bit about needing the cat post 95 now.
Are the lambda tests more difficult then than just passing co2 readings?

all you need to check is the letters at the start of your engine number
look them up here: linky that'll give you
year and month
as above if its after Aug 95 you'll realisticaly need a CAT to get passed the test
where you planning on running it on carbs or EFI ?

so thought no time like the present.... maybe in the dark isn't the best idea though.
can't seem to see my engine code, i thought it was as shown in this pic:
Although mine is a silvertop as stated, i thought it was in the same place, although i can't seem to see it..... is it there or somewhere else?

yes it should be there.
If its not it could have been a replacment engine ford should have stamped the engine when thay swaped them but never did. The owner wouldnt know or
care and it saved them 1/2 hours work.
Some have photo'd the number and have been able to read it that way if rusted.

Pre Aug95... CO<3.5% HC <1200ppm at idle
Post Aug95... Fast idle test (2500-3000rpm) CO<0.3% HC <200ppm Lambda 0.97-1.03. Idle test CO<0.5%

Pre 95 is slightly more complicated than that. If the CO is <3.5% at idle and HC fails, then they can check the HC at 2000rpm. I only know this
because that is what mine needed to do. (in the dark days of dodgy carbs).
Good luck with your engine age.
