Frontal visibility

I'm a little confused by the frontal visibility (i.e. field of view from the drivers seat) regs in the manual, assuming a self-designed car. Does anyone have a basic explanation of it as I'm finding it a bit ambiguous.

Basic version...
You have to have an uninterupted view of the road ahead in an arc of 180degrees from the drivers seat. There's a list of bits that can stick up into this. Any aeroscreen must be below the imaginary line "C" in the appendix or its deemed a windscreen and has to have wipers, washers and demist.
Thats ambiguas. The manual is very specific... but complicated!

So how do roll cages and other structural members fall into that then? It seems to suggest split screens are OK as are A pillars but surely they could be notably larger than the 10mm allowed for screen supports etc and still be OK? I'm thinking an exo car with full cage build into the chassis design, much like the cadillac aera (concept) :

Thanks for clearing up the C line issue with aero screens, that makes sense now!
