Reg plate confusion

Right i bought a sierra donor, i have taken all the parts i need. I have all the documents and a reg plate (H reg). Thing is i chose not to use the engine and gearbox and opt for a pinto instead. So from the original i'm using the hubs, steering colomn and a few other parts (didn't use diff either as it was 7.5" which had to be changed to a 7" So basically can i not use the H reg i have as i'm using so few original parts? If i have to get a new plate what can i do with the old plate registration wise etc?

Thanks for any help
Ben

If you want an age-related plate (which you *might* get) then keep it long enough to show the inspector.

If you don't care and go for a 'Q' then file it under B I N!

Hope that helps,

James

Thanks James. One other question, say i can't use the H reg, what do i have to do legally? I mean declaring it as 'no more'

Fill in the scrapped section on the V5 if you have scrapped it. If its gonna be sat around just without a couple of bits then fill in the SORN section.

my plan is to use the donor engine - then as soon as sva is done, drop a neater engine in - anything to keep the inspectors off my case!
but im after an age related plate - as the other guys say, if youdont mind a 'q' then dont worry bout it

Don't bin any paper work that can prove you had the doner.Change the engine no to what you r svaing with..It helps big amounts at reg time even if "Q" plating.Change the ownership and keep on top of the sorn notes.Belive me it saves the" where did you get the major parts from?Do you have a reciept?"

..Which was nice..

Ben,

you will state on the build up form that you have used axles, transmission and steering from the donor. That should give you enough major components to qualify for an age related plate.

Local DVLA will take your V5 and you then write to DVLA and notify them that you have scrapped the vehicle.
