Upper Ball Joint Clarification needed

Just seen this thread :-

Do we now have to cover the upper ball joint, to counter the "no sharp edges" requirement?

I don't see how the "Sphere of Doom" gets anywhere near mine, because the wingstay mounting brkts will impede anything heading towards the ball joint.

Here's what I mean :-
