Receipts for registration

Reading around the registration process, I see that I need to present receipts for the DVLA inspector.

Surely I can't be the only one with many parts which don't have receipts?

I have a receipt for the engine, and a receipt from Stuart taylor motorsport for the chassis, bodywork, driveshfts and various other bits.

I have no receipt for the gearbox, diff, front uprights, rear hubs and many other smaller bits. Most of these came from breakers of the kind that barely speak english let along write receipts, or free-ads/ mates breaking cars! (and the engine receipt is from 1996, I have so many car bits laying about that I just call on them when they are needed!!)

Anybody had a similar situation?

Yes, I had much the same thought! I am pretty sure that the breaker that I had the rear hubs from will do me a receipt, and I think I may be able to "find" a couple of others!

I just stuffed a carrier bag with what I had, and handed it over. A lot of the stuff was ebay print offs, I had no reciepts for several of the major parts - they just copied it and didn't ask any questions.

No problem

We kept every single receipt for every item we bought for the build. Did the local DVLA ask to see any?.............. nope, not even one.

I swamped my DVLA man with paper! I kept receipts for everything, including all the trivia. When he arrived I presented him with a file, divided into engine, transmission, chassis etc. very much "never mind the quality, feel the width".
I saw him look at the receipts for metal tubing and the engine. He just flicked through the rest.
