IVA exemption- front suspension.
I've seen in the past that I between the two front wishbones (on a seven) is exempt from the radius test... However after looking in my IVA
manual I can't find the diagram. Is it still exempt?
Also- I've read about people locking out the front coil overs by use of a clamp or drilling and putting a grub screw in. Is this tested?

I don't believe that is the case, after all they're a huge target for a passing pedestrian. Even the nuts and bolts on the wishbone
fixings needs to be covered, as well as the locknuts on the track rod ends. I vaguely remember the SVA solution was cable ties and pipe lagging, but
even that isn't allowed for the IVA as it's classed as temporary.
I don't know about the coilovers, although the adjustable spring platform on mine does have a grub screw to lock them in place.

In the current version of the manual (at least the most up to date one that I can find - 17/6/13), its in the 'exterior projections'
section page 9 of 12. This defines a virtual box formed by the upper and lower wishbones in which any projections are exempt from the radius test. I
still wouldn't want to temp fate by deliberately putting large pointy things in there though.
I have heard that some testers ask that the coil overs are locked but also that some people have got through the test by saying that they are still
under a degree of compression when the suspension is on full droop.

That's the one I was looking for! Thanks. There's only the ladjustment ring for the coil over that would cause a problem. But I can take a
cover just incase!
It might be worth knocking up some clamps just to show its something I've thought about! The argument could also be that if it was needed
manufacturers would for it as standard... We will see!
