Parts Identification for SVA

For our build we would like to use an ex race CVH engine in what is most likley to be a road going car. The trouble is that over the engines life and development no track has been kept of where all of the parts have come from.
It is a similar story for some other parts such as the box, rack, prop and uprights which we are about to buy, as I seriously doubt they will come with log book or identification.
Will this mean that it will have to use a Q plate or will other problems arise? (E.g. engine emissions tests)

There shouldnt be too much of a problem. Cvh's are obviously oldish so should be good for sva emmissions regs. should be fine. Ie. pre 95 so no cat needed etc... Being a race engine though u may have to tweak it a bit to get it through.

You just need to find a sierra V5 , with or without the rest of the car.
As long as you use two major components from it such as engine and box you will get an age related number.

Andy,

Come on, you can't really expect the SVA man to know they've not all come from the same car- come on, that would be too much to expect!

Just get one Sierra V5. Register the CVH engine as being in that car and as the Cheese Esting Surrender Monkeys would say: eh Voila!

what's the problem with a Q plate??????????????????????

My car has no parts which could have come from a single donor really, but I don't give a stuff about which numer they put on it as long as I can drive it on the road!!

In fact, in a way I would rather it was a Q, than something that "used to be a sierra"!!!!!!

LOl i too have a mishmash of parts. Escort back axle sierra box and mondingo engine. I dont mind a Q. It is after all a kit car.. So its different.

I haven't got anything against a Q-plate, i prefer them actually. Am I right in thinking that a Q-plate car has less a stringent emissions test at the MOT?

Danozeman: I don't think the engine has been 'played with' to the extent that it won't go through the SVA. But we'll see!

James: Very kind of you to invite me to your gathering, i'm guessing that Newlands Corner is or has a pub. Ill do my best to get there, the trouble is that i've got a lot of work at the moment and me car is playing up too.
