sva odds and sods
a couple of bits of advice from those in the know please:
- mirrors - app. need minimum glass area and radii - any values?
- seat belts - do these need "e" mark or the like? have inherited some fine belts out of my brother's alfa but not a mark on them -
ok to fit? (i'm guessing no on this but just checking before coughing up more rapidly delpeating funds!)
interior radii - do things like top of transmission tunnel and inside of body (where you sit- i want to just cover outside in ali and leave chassis
exposed on inside) have to meet any radius criteria?
- anything tobear in mind about pedals apart from rubbers?
think that covers it for this bout. many thanks in advance.

mirrors - no idea, need to read my manual so someone else can answer that one!
Belts, fine, should be no problem, manual says either E marked or the same as an emarked one so no probs there as long as they are similar/the same as
an emarked one from another car.
interior radii - complicated one! Pedals are exempt, so that's a start. I am blunting the edges of ally panels riveted to the tunnel top etc but
not trimming them, and assuming the chassis tubes are ok as everybody elses are! (well, everybody without trim) Not a lot you can do if they fail
apart form trim the areas, and most cars don't so I wouldn't worry.
pedals just need to be "strong enough" by the examiners opinion, so not bend when you stand on the brake would be my take on it.....try it
and see what happens, always a good idea anyway on a new build!

Ive got a copy of a SVA guide with loads of useful info like mirrors and radii. Its on my laptop i will upload it later when i get chance. I got it
off here, but cant remember what the thread was called so probably easier to post it up again.

Question? Are the aircraft style covers for toggle switches OK for SVA. I'm thinking of putting a couple on the tunnel top just under the dash
but I think they will be contactable by the SVA mans ball.
Any thoughts or past experiences?

If they're less than the radius specified in the manual then they will fail- simple as that.
Buy the manual!!!

Is that actually the manual or just the update/draft version?

as far as I can see the draft update one covers just about everything anyway. Put it this way, it covers every question that I have seen asked on
here!

I've got a copy of the manual and understand the radii criteria but with the flip top covers, I was wondering if they are tested closed or open?
I think they will pass closed but not sure about when open because the inner / underside of the switch cover would be contactable...guess i'll
have to measure the radius on the inside and make myself a radii checker and 165mm ball.

cheers guys.
good news on the seat belts at least! and seats due any day now so weekend will hopefully see all driver mod cons catered for.
as for mirrors, i got some peachy numbers from biker-bitz.co.uk (cant recommend their service highly enough, or prices), which look ace but just
woried they be a bit small for mr sva man. obviosly will put back once passed but do i have find a pair or truck mirrors to get through test? mmm.
got the pedal thing licked methinks. hopefully the brake at least.
cheers again,
happy 'costing
