Taxing the car online
My road tax reminder came on thursday for the indy,i thought what the hell i'll have a go at this tax online system.
Talk about big brother,al you have to do is put in your code on reminder or your reg number and they know EVERYTHING.
The system knew i didnt need a MOT and confirmed i had insurance, tax disc arrived this morning so that was a 36hr turnaround.
Maybe i just got lucky

You evidently do not need to MOT an SVA'd car for 3 years, although my reminder tells me i need one and did so last year i was told by the DVLA
to take my V5 log book to the post office to show the car was first registered in 2004.

The online system will only allow you to tax a car if you are exempt from the MOT as above (or a new normal car) or you have had your MOT done at a
garage equipped with the new computerised MOT system.

Its a good system and seems to work ok,i think there should be a discount for internet applications though as it must cut out a fair bit of post
office counters admin.
