When should I apply if I want to SVA in 2nd week of July?

Hi all.

I'd like to do the SVA on the 2nd week of July.
When should I apply?

I have identified the following steps. Are they correct?

1. Get a VIN number and get an appointment for DVLA to inspect (this is you local office) or they may not do this till after SVA.

2. Stamp VIN number to chassis, do this your self and sign the sheet as both the owner and garage!

3. Conact the VRO office and ask for an SVA application form.

4. Complete the SVA form and return with money (CHQ)

5. Get SVA appointment at local (nearest) VRO office.

6. Pass SVA and get MAC.

7. Get MOT done.

8. Go to the local DVLA office with the registration form completed, along with the MAC, VIN number stamp letter, MOT, insurance certificate, Driving license and passport and Birth Certificate and a utility bill.

9. Pay money for TAX disc while doing 8.

10. A couple of days later you'll get you tax disc.

Is this all?
Thanks,
Joao

1. Some DVLA local offices let you choose your own, other don't. My inspection was not until after SVA (Maidstone)

7. Not required for registration.

10. At Maidstone DVLA they gave me the tax disc there and then, and gave me a certificate so I could get number plates. Different offices do it differently, so check with your local one (Lisbon? )

i would of thought for 2nd week of july you should of applied for the sva already.

i would of thought you need a vin number before the sva, as otherwise the sva have no means of inditenifing your car.

It will have taken 9 weeks by the time I get my test done on the 27th June.
One of the reasons was the tester going on holiday!!!!!!

You need a VIN to get insured to drive to the SVA (and MoT).

I did it in this order.

VIN (from Luego)
Insurance
Mot - did this as SVA is 100 miles round trip, and for peace of mind, although not necessary, but for £40 its a good basic check for roadworthyness.

SVA
SVA (again)
SVA (Yet Again)
DVLA for inspection
Paperwork at the DVLA at the same time as the inspection. (pay for Reg £38, Pay for Tax £175)
Wait for DVLA
Wait for DVLA.
Get the DVLA Reg letter
Buy Plates
On the ROAD..
Celebrate BIG TIME.
