Woohooo PASSED AE06 VAF is now BORN :D
Hi Guys,
Wow - what a week!
I had my SVA on Monday at Nottingham - a top tester called Martin. He was as fair as Kofi Anan! It was a great experience.
I left clutching my MAC form
I then popped into my local DVLA office and he said - come back this afternoon - I went back he checked it - my insurance docs were @ work (Leamington
Spa) so had to get them posted for today (weds)
Went back today - he said - hand me £138ish quid and I'll give ya some 06 plates
What a marvellous feeling - it's alive and is truly, truly awesome to drive.
Just sodding typical that the weather has turned nasty
I can't stop smiling :

James

Heh cheers guys
James - well everything was new except the engine, gearbox and diff... but they were all reconditioned.
To be fair - they only wanted to see the receipts for the chassis and the engine and engine number letter from Ford.
I said - either Q or 06, he said - 06. They really don't like Q's at the moment - so anybody trying should ask for an 06 :-)
As for my next project - I think a little bit of rest, some trackdays and then maybe spend some cash with SCHOLAR :-)

Congratulations on the pass.
They seem to be hating Q's more than wanting to follow their own rules (or did you really get everything new?). Sounds like they want to get
rid of Q for some reason.
Does 06 not have some rather negative implications for emissions testing at the MOT (in 3 years time) ?

Am I missing something here? Apart from number plate snobbery what are the real advantages of an 06 plate over a Q plate? The car still looks and
drives the same but a Q plate owner wont have emissions headaches come MOT time. Give me a visible smoke test every time.
7 out of 10 people suffer with hemorrhoids. Does that mean the other 3 enjoy them?

Hi Paul,
Yes you are missing something - I don't know what it is though!
According to the regulations - as long as I meet the emissions I passed SVA with thats good enough.
I know there's no difference between a Q and an 06 plate in reality - it's just nice to have a plate that I can make 'private'
if and when I can afford it
Yup - seriously everything else was new apart from the 3 things mentioned... Eng/Gbox/Diff.
Build has cost me £7k including bits, insurance and SVA + Road Tax.
Graeme - you best ring Paul and work out when his magic fingers are available - I'll follow him down

I would have thought that an 06 plate would help resale value, I know anyone can see by looking at the paperwork that the car passed SVA and was
registered 2006 but i think most folks would pay a couple of hundred quid more for the car with the 06 plate than the Q.
I will be happy to get mine on the road legally and drive the thing,
at the end of the day when your driving it you cant see the reg!

Locoboy - couldn't agree more
I just chanced my arm with the 06 - I'd urge anybody else to give it a go - why not?
As stated a Q would have been fine for me too - but seeing as that's the minimum I could have got - I decided to aim for an 06, safe in the
knowledge that it would still get a Q
Now its registered - I dont care - just loving driving it... Dam this weather though - didnt order that!

Muzchaps,
Im probably going to do the same thing, hence im taking my time in reconditioning components to give the first impression of 'new'
items.
Glad your through it and enjoying the driving.
