hi ya , just got my chassis number through the post , does any one know where i can get a nice chassis plate from

I just walked in to my local trophy engravers and said excatly what I wanted.
The did a chasis plate and an info plate for me.
Rich.

I got mine from one of those key cutting places in the supermarkets.
A point i was told was to engrave an "*" either end of the number to prevent adding numbers/letters later on and no spaces allowed.
I got my info plate of Brass and my chasis of stainless steel

I have to admit I am puzzled as to why people want to spend loads of money on fancy chassis plates - it is not like you can see it unless you remove
the bonnet and thenb so what?
In my case, one of the previous owners had a screen printed piece of ali with car details that I then stamped myself with set of 4 mm punches. Ok, so
letters are not perfectly spaced nor in line but it is mucho locosto.  I wouldn't have bothered otherwise.
As for number on chassis, I sanded off a small section of tube then stamped the number and a coat of varnish on top - job done. It is not fanatastic
to llok at but has the data which is what matters.
Can't see how a fancy plate will make your car go faster nor add any significant amount to its value..... but each to their own I guess.
Oooooh, hope I don't upset anyone.

It just pure vanity really. Much like paint, polish or chrome plating - its still the same thing underneath but looks different from others. You could
even write the number on the chassis with mig weld I suppose!

not vanity for me, it could be under the floor and I'd still do it "right".
in this instance I judge "right" to be something which won't corrode (hence stainless steel not ally) and looks neat
