Definitive List

Can any one put a definitive list of what to do and when to do it in the build to make it legal .
I am at the stage of nearly completed and want to know what order I should do things .
ie. VRO for Chassis number
Mot
SVA
Reg no
and any thing else thats missing ...
I know thats its all listed somewhere but never listed in one place.
thanks for your time :

think the trouble is all areas are different,if someone from a different area told you how he did it,your area would probly throw a wobler and have you shot, best try your local office and see how they do it,get their name or it in writing as there have been probs in the past with procedure

Agree with Conrod, call your local office and see what they want. I got them to inspect the chassis as soon as the build looks like a car (at my home), at the same time the inspector filled out a "vehicle build up" form which lists the origin of the parts. Then they issued the chassis number and then I sent in the V55 (think thats correct number) which is an application for vehicle registration. When you are ready to go on the road get your insurance using the chassis number and get the MOT (not always needed but chance for first drive and emissions test). Once you have your SVA pass you can apply for your reg plates.

Best bet is to get all your forms off ASAP, and keep asking what else you need so when you are ready they cannot come up with a load more paper work and delay. The problem is they hold all the cards and make the rules so you need to play them at their own game! Also keep talking to your prefered SVA test centre to check on waiting list for a test, mine jumped from 3 weeks to 8 weeks at the start of the summer.
