CAT required?

As you may know I've put a Sylva Mojo chassis into a 1980 mini. originally I wasn't going to SVA the car. But now i am!
I'm putting in a Honda Vtec 1.8 VTi, year 2000.
I'm hoping not to put a CAT on the exhaust system, do i need one???

Sadly, you do need a cat on an engine of that age.

Yep, any engine manufactured after August 1995 needs a cat, even if it's from a bike that didn't have originally!

Is it such a bad thing for a kit car?
I've heard of exhausts with an inbuilt Cat but don't know who supplies them?
I presume they affect performance?
