For a Bike it'll be the MSVA (unless it's changed again).
But I don't know what form it would be.

Typing MSVA into the VOSA website search box produces quite a few hits though.

Not familiar with supermotos, but if meets the spec for an enduro bike it won't need MSVA:
quote:

Enduro motorcycles shall have the following characteristics:

* minimum seat height of 900mm; and
* minimum ground clearance of 310mm

Also no SVA required if it's over 10 years old.

Otherwise you need MSVA, but there's no such thing as daylight SVA or MSVA so you will need to meet all the lighting requirements.

Hi i've done it a few times.

It works as follows:

MOT which requires - Horn - must be electronic and single tone, a speedo (push bike one will do), a way of supporting the bike when not against a wall or similar - e.g. a small triangle wire stand, road legal tyres (E marked), and all "NOT FOR ROAD USE" parts removed - e.g. some race end cans.

You also need insurance, so get it insured on the frame number, I know bikesure do this, but not sure on other brokers off the top of my head. These tend to be limited to a month or similar so don't get it insured until you know it will pass the MOT.

Proof of age certificate - if you don't have a proper one from honda/kwakazagi etc. then you can get a dating certificate made up by that guy on the isle of wight...ron i think...hmmm (I'll try and find a link) and proof that VAT has been paid (original bill of sale, or if 2nd hand you might be able to get away with not having this without them getting customs and excise breathing done your neck for the VAT)

Once all the paper work is together then get a v55 form from post office (or download I think)

Supermoto is MSVA exempt - state this clearly on the reliavant box on the form - state "Enduro - EXEMPT".

Go visit your local office and chat to friendly looking person behind the desk, act dumb, be nice and smile - they are usually helpful, but there are some that are a pain in the ass that can get funny about not having VAT documents for example.

You pay a small fee, plus 1 years road fund licence (road tax) and if your lucky you will walk out with the reg number, if not its a few weeks and it arrives in the post.

Sorry if this is badly written - i;ve written it lots of time before in other forums.

Hope this helps.

Oh, all that is for a day light only use and on a supermoto that meets the minimum seat heights / ground clearence stated earlier.

No such thing as a day time MOT - if your out with no lights and it rains, you will get pulled over and not allowed to ride. Just to clear up a commen myth, its down to visability NOT daylight.

if it HAS lights then its more complicated, becuase if it has something it has to conform to the rules, but if it doesn't have anything then there are no rules for it to comply to.

If it was me, I'd whip em off for the test, becuase the "daytime" MOT is not stated anywhere on the MOT ceretificate, its the same as a full one, so you can refit them striaght after and use it at night/low visability. THats if the lights don't comply - (e marked maybe?)

I'd visit your friendly local MOT tester and chat it through, I know NOTHING about the lighting rules and regs - so please check to avoid disapointment.

From the MOT manual ref "daylight MOT":

quote:

This inspection applies to: all vehicles, except those which either have no front or rear position lamps or have such lamps permanently disconnected, painted over or masked that are
. only used during daylight hours, and
. not used at times of seriously reduced visibility.

If this situation occurs, the vehicle presenter should be issued with a VT32 (advisory notice) recording the above.
