Fuel filler requirments
As title realy.
I cant bring my self to spend lots of cash on a fuel filler cap.
I dont need the unleaded restrictor, but I could soon turn one up if I wanted.
are there features it must have ? Must it say petrol ? must it lock ?
I have found some filler caps with a "2 fitting and flush mounting.
£8 in plastic and £18 in plated brass.
Any reason why not ?

Yup it certainly has to be locking.
If your really tight and its under the boot lid you can use the Donors and canablaise the filler neck (flange where it bolts onto the car) if
you've still got it, that way its the same key as the ignition as well

What if it is a normal screw cap directly on the tank which is hidden under a panel held with Dzus fasteners. Does this count as 'locked'?
The annoying thing is that our tank is foam filled anyway, making it somewhat difficult the syphon the fuel out ( I assume this is the reason for the
locking cap?)
Apologies for slight hi-jack. May be of relevance tho

Hmm.. I may be wrong then, that might be for the MOT test.
We had a push in emergency type filler cap under our lockable boot and somebody objected to it, wither the MOT or SVA so we canabalised the donor one
we already had.

Petrol cap doesn't have to lock for SVA or MOT, but you'd be stupid to leave the car with a non-locking one these days.
The horrible temporary ones don't pass as they aren't considered to seal properly.
