SVA Step by Step

This is a simple step by step of the forms and processes required to get a car on the road - it's still work in progress, but hopefully helps some people out

    SVA Section

SVA 1 Application Form + £190 Fee Fill Out Guide
Amateur Build Declaration must accompany this...

Expect to wait about 2 weeks from when this gets sent, to receiving a test date. Do not forget to send build photos, and sign everything (including photos) as certified

After the test you will be given a MAC Sample

    Registration Section

    Age Related or Q Plate

V55/5 (not online) DVLA office or automated helpline Sample Fill Out Guide

    New Plate

V55/4 (not online) DVLA office or automated helpline Fill Out Guide Sample
    V267 Declaration of newness Sample
Receipts to show all but ONE reconditioned item is new

    All

V627/1 Built up inspection report Sample

    DVLA Inspection

Average wait 4weeks
Take SVA
DVLA inspection...

You can re-arrange that list to have the DVLA inspection before SVA.... saves time as car doesn't have to be finished!

Cheers,
James

I have added the parts I know about to my original post, but am still confused to buggery as to the order, and what forms need accompanying proof or build photos...

Yeah I'd definitely appreciate an update to this. Was hoping to get my 'radically altered car' on the road this year and I don't want to find out I've got a 4 month wait for the dvla to find a pencil.

I know its IVA now but is it as simple as:
1 - apply for IVA
2 - Pass IVA
3 - Register car with DVLA along with all build backup info (photos etc)
4 - tax and on the way.

Why are all the fun things in life expensive!
